Kernel 2.6 and the OMAP5912 OSK

If you are using a OMAP5912 OSK Revision D don’t forget to download the correct U-Boot from here. The file name is osk-u-boot_8_11_05_RevD.bin. It took me quite some time to figure out that this U-Boot version was necessary to boot a 2.6 Kernel on a revision D board. U-Boot’s version should read:

U-Boot 1.1.1 (Aug 4 2005 - 10:41:25)

One man’s adventure into the World of OMAP

It begun yesterday when I laid my hands on a OMAP5912 OSK. The board was dead, just spitting out some dots through the serial port when turned on. My first quest was to resurrect it by flashing a new u-boot. This was done with Windows and a serial cable as there was no USB A-to-A cable available. Unfortunately I could not find a GNU/Linux application to do it via /dev/ttyS0. A TI application was used as instructed here. Now after setting up tftp the board is booting fine. Thanks for the help of Keppler and Anderson.
